And so it ends! The Tera1 is no longer supported from VMware with Horizon View 6.01. The Tera1 has served us well, but now we need to look to the future.
The support KB article from Teradici contains the following table that lays out the support clearly

Teradici Support for Tera1 zero clients:
- Teradici provides general support for Tera1 zero clients on VMware Horizon up to and including version 6.0.1.
- For VMware Horizon releases above 6.0.1 (including Horizon 6.1), Teradici is able to provide technical guidance for basic VDI connectivity with Tera1 zero clients.
Ok so what can I do?
Well that really depends on what your plans are
- You could stick with Horizon 5.3 or below and the solution would be fully supported but obviously this means you cannot benefit from the new features from VMware
- You could upgrade to Horizon 6.01 and accept that only Teradici would support this. If you are winding down the use of these clients, this may well be a viable option.
- You could upgrade to above Horizon 6.01 and simply not use the new features. However this would not be supported by either VMware or Teradici. I wouldnt recommend this for production, but if you are winding down the clients it might acceptable in the transition period
- My personal favourite is that 10ZIG are willing to buy back the old clients from ANY vendor. Anyone who has dealt with me in my role or VMUG will know I am a big advocate of 10ZIG, I even wrote a blog post specific to their Customer Support. The link to buy back is here. I have to admit I will be mentioning this to my customers as it’s a great opportunity as it gets you some money back off some great clients.
10Zig recently demonstrated their new(ish) quad core client at the VMware EUC Bootcamp and it was awesome, I highly recommend getting one on demo from them as it really is something worth seeing in the flesh.
